Where Women Create - Winter 2012

Dear Soul Shines,
It has been a while since I've blogged even though I have had so many inspirational things to share. For the first time in my life I have been "forced" to slow down by my body's metamorphosis through menopause... For me, it has been like being hit by a runaway train that cracked my heart and soul wide open so the world can see me inside out and totally naked. Definitely a time to get real. Real with myself and real with God. I'm almost sure he's gotten tired of me pulling on his shirt sleeve asking so many questions. When I make it through this transformation I will be a very wise woman with even wider open arms to embrace other women in this delicate space. Becoming a sage is worth all the pain. So much love to all of you!
     -Pearl
P.S. - We wanted to share the new November, 2012 issue of Where Women Create magazine that features the Magnolia Pearl Fashion Imaginarium and our dear friend, Carol Hicks Bolton's studio. "Thank you" with my whole heart to beautiful Jo Packham for your generosity, kindness, and love. You are one of the wisest women ever and I love you so much. I am eternally grateful.

Such dreamworthy imagery unfolds beyond the confines of your page.
As Dorothy said, "Toto, I 've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!"
...and so to new beginnings, full of things that have never been!

It's helpful to the rest of us that you allow yourself to be so transparent. I know it's a painful process you're going through. "...but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect." Romans 12:1-3

Many (hugs)... Polly
P.S. The article is amazing! I just want to absorb every single image. =)

Yes it is a delicate space, this particular Season of Life. Here's to slowing down and being Well and keeping it Real always. I thoroughly enjoyed the new Where Women Create and the features on the Magnolia Pearl Fashion Show and Carol Hicks Bolton's new Fabulous Shop. Carol has Inspired me for so many years that I was delighted to see more of her in Print again, such an Iconic Styling Genius! Your Lovely Line of Clothing in the Show was Enchanting and obviously a Labor of Love.

Robin, I can relate. I'm now having horrid hot flashes. I can't even count them as "power surges!" Anyway, wearing your cool clothes helps. The lovely linens are lightweight, and allows me to feel comfortable. I hope that this powerful passage goes smoothly for you.

I saw your fashions come over my pinterest images and immediatly fell in love. I told my DH - that is the kind of style I love, then i went to your pages and said, that is the kind of life I want to live. I had been raised on homesteading while young, then ranches, and farms, and as an older adult, I feel a longing to go back to that kind of lifestyle. Your so blessed. I hope your move goes smoothly. I'll be reading your blog from now on - on a reg. basis.

Dear kindred spirit...
Doctor's visit yesterday..what to do with the never-ending hot flashes (leaving me a furnace, with my glasses fogged up) Just turned 51 on the 13th of November. In my mind I can't believe I'm there...at that number...but my body confirms daily, that it is so. Menopause/Metamorphosis...is truly a freeing experience, if you can think of it that way. I am more confident than ever before, not afraid to do something new..every single day, sometimes. The fatigue, though, won't let me fulfill all my passions at once, but maybe that's not a bad thing. I'm enjoying each new day for what it offers. Right now, it means sitting in front of the fire in our 1908 Victorian Cottage, crocheting tiny baby booties for a future grandchild, my niece in the rocker next to me (on break from college) and blessed quietness, but for the crackling fire.
You will be in my prayers and always know that you, my beautiful girl, are not alone on this journey ...
We have many lessons before we come to the end of life, and I'm finding they are richer and richer as we travel along.
I live in your clothes...they are comfort, as my body is ever-changing and shifting...and my friends and family have noticed that I have finally found the clothes that express my personality and my joy. Thank you for your creative spirit and lifestyle that is such inspiration.
Blessings,
Christie
P.S. friend of Anne (in our own little world of blogland:)

I just read the comment above from my new blog friend, Christie. What a lovely message!

Robin, you know that you are surrounded by so much love and support, but I well know that there are many times when you feel completely and utterly alone...bereft.

It's a rough journey, but you are making that metamorphosis from caterpillar into butterfly. Not always easy, sometimes painful, but never, EVER alone.

Much love to you, my beautiful friend!!!
XOXO,
Anne

Your blog on menopause helped me so much. I read it when I'm feeling down and also scan your website to look at all the beautiful clothes. I used to have so much physical and creative energy and it seems like it has come to a screeching halt. I just have to remind myself that everything has a beginning, a middle and an end and God is with me all the way. Thanks again for being so open about the changes you're going through. I don't feel so alone!

Dearest Robin,

Have followed you for many years and have found you to be an inspiration on many levels. I was touched by your post and was moved to reach out.

As having gone through "the change", I can tell you that, for me, it was a powerful process that, as you say, makes one get back to what's real. I discovered that so much of what I once thought I needed and wanted really didn't serve me anymore and that it was time for things not only in me but around me to change as well.

Like you, I'm a California girl, a creative and a child of the 60s and 70s. I've since reconnected with that girl who inspires me daily. The past couple of years have brought clarity and inspiration which has been truly liberating on so many levels. I had to work for this and still get stuck sometimes, but I'm grateful for the process; it is meant to be.

I think it's important during this time of our lives to continue to stay connected with our dharma. Only you can say what that is for you, but from what I've read here, your words and designs inspire countless women of all ages to feel beautiful, especially during a time in our lives when we may sometimes feel like we are no longer beautiful. Feeling beautiful inspires us to do great things. That's powerful work which I hope you will continue if you see fit.

Be good to yourself. Know that you are loved and valued regardless of where your journey takes you. May God bless. xxx

Hi I have been going through this for several years and had actually forgotten what feeling 'normal' was like. My husband who edits a natural health magazine got me a new product to try and after two weeks I feel like a different person. Not sure whether you can get it in the USA but you would be able to get on the internet. Research it and see Its called 'Phytosoya' by Arkopharma Love Lynda
